Example
Example: a phone photo turned into a 307 × 378 px Spanish passport photo
A Spanish national living in Manchester is renewing her passport at the consulate and needs a 26 × 32 mm photo. She takes a portrait on her phone against a plain white wall: photo.jpg, 3024 × 4032 pixels. The page keeps “Fill and crop to 26×32 mm”, output format “Same as original”.
- The frame keeps the 26:32 shape and starts centred and as large as it can be: 3024 × 3723 pixels, the full width, with 154 pixels off the top and 155 off the bottom.
- Drag and resize it until her head fills most of the height, with a little space above the hair.
- Press Resize to 26×32 mm: what is inside the frame is scaled to 307 × 378 pixels and saved as photo-307x378.jpg, marked 300 dpi.
| Original photo | Frame at the start (centred) | Result |
|---|---|---|
| 3024 × 4032 (phone, upright) | 3024 × 3723 | 307 × 378 |
| 3000 × 4000 (phone, upright) | 3000 × 3694 | 307 × 378 |
| 4032 × 3024 (phone, sideways) | 2456 × 3024 | 307 × 378 |
| 1080 × 1920 (front camera) | 1080 × 1330 | 307 × 378 |
A 307 × 378 px JPG that prints at exactly 26 × 32 mm at 300 dpi. For printed copies, put it on one sheet with the Passport photo print sheet tool at 26×32 mm. If an online form caps the file size, “Keep the file under”, say 50 KB, lowers the quality, never the pixels.
How it works
- Drop the portrait onto the box, or pick it from your phone. A plain, light background and a straight look at the camera give the cleanest result.
- Fill and crop is preselected, so a frame locked to the 26:32 shape appears on the photo. Drag it over your face and pull a corner until your head and shoulders sit inside with a little space above your hair.
- Press Resize to 26×32 mm. The file that comes out is exactly 307 × 378 pixels.
- Download it, then print it at 26 × 32 mm or attach it to the form as it is.
Frequently asked questions
- Why 307 × 378 pixels?
- 26 mm ÷ 25.4 × 300 = 307 and 32 mm ÷ 25.4 × 300 = 378. That is the 26 × 32 mm photo of the Spanish DNI and passport at 300 dpi, the resolution print shops work at.
- Can I change the proportions?
- Not on this page: the size is fixed at 307 × 378, so the crop frame keeps the 26:32 shape and the photo cannot come out stretched. You only choose which part of the picture the frame holds. For a free size, use the main Resize image tool.
- Does the file carry a 300 dpi tag?
- Yes. A JPG or PNG comes out marked 300 dpi, so photo software opens it at 26 × 32 mm (a WebP file carries no dpi mark). At a print shop, still ask for the physical size rather than trusting what its software shows.
- How do I get several copies on one sheet?
- Use the Passport photo print sheet tool and choose the 26×32 mm size. It repeats one photo across 4×6 inch, L-size, 5×7 inch or A4 paper at 300 dpi with light cut lines.
- Is the DNI photo the same size as the Spanish passport photo?
- Yes: both ask for 26 × 32 mm, so one 307 × 378 px file does for both. It is not the size for a UK or US passport — those are 35 × 45 mm and 2 × 2 inches, and have pages of their own.
- Can I use a photo taken on my phone?
- Yes, as in the example above. A phone photo has far more pixels than needed (3024 × 4032 against 307 × 378), so the frame can be tight on the face and the result is still sharp. Stand facing a plain, light wall in even daylight.
- Is my photo uploaded?
- No. Cropping and resizing run in your browser, which matters for a document photo. The free plan allows 3 files per run, 20 MB per file and 5 runs a day; Pro removes those limits.
