How it works

  1. Drop the image, artwork or scan. Landscape images are cropped hard by the portrait A4 frame; choose Fit inside if you want everything kept.
  2. Fill and crop is preselected for full-bleed images such as posters and backgrounds: the image is scaled to cover 2480×3508 and the overflow is trimmed.
  3. Press Resize to A4. The result is exactly 2480 by 3508 pixels.
  4. Print at 100% on A4, or turn it into a PDF page with JPG to PDF (page size A4, margin 0) so it prints edge to edge at 300 dpi.

Frequently asked questions

Why 2480 × 3508?
A4 is 210×297 mm. At 300 dots per inch that is 210 ÷ 25.4 × 300 = 2480 pixels wide and 297 ÷ 25.4 × 300 = 3508 pixels tall. 300 dpi is the resolution print shops and office printers expect for photo-quality output.
Will a small photo become print quality?
No. Upscaling adds pixels, not detail; a 1200-pixel photo stretched to 2480 pixels looks soft in print. This preset is for cropping large photos and scans to the exact page, or for downsizing oversized scans.
Does the file say 300 dpi?
The file contains the pixel dimensions only. Any software printing it at A4 size outputs 300 dpi. If a printer requires a DPI tag, place the image on an A4 page with JPG to PDF, which fixes the physical size.
Which format should I choose?
JPG for photos, about 2 to 4 MB at this size. PNG for line art, scans of text and anything with flat colour; expect 10 MB or more. Remember the free plan's 20 MB per file limit for very large PNG sources.
Is anything uploaded?
No. The resize runs in your browser; large files just take a few seconds longer. Free plan: 3 files per run, 20 MB per file, 10 runs a day; Pro removes those limits.
