How it works
- Drop a wide photo or a banner you designed. The 4:1 ratio is very wide; skylines, office shots and abstract textures work best.
- Fill and crop is preselected: the image is scaled to cover 1584×396 and the top and bottom are trimmed equally.
- Press Resize for LinkedIn. The output is exactly 1584 by 396 pixels.
- Upload it under Edit profile, background photo. Your profile photo sits over the bottom-left of the banner on desktop, so keep text to the centre and right.
Frequently asked questions
- Why 1584 × 396?
- LinkedIn's recommended background image for personal profiles is 1584×396 pixels (4:1). Company Page covers use 1128×191. Uploading the exact size means LinkedIn's cropper opens with nothing to trim.
- What is the file size limit?
- LinkedIn accepts JPG, PNG and GIF up to 8 MB. A 1584×396 JPG at good quality is typically 200 to 400 KB, so size is rarely an issue.
- Where is the banner hidden by the profile photo?
- On desktop the round profile picture overlaps the lower-left corner; on mobile it is centred and covers more of the middle-bottom. Keep logos and text in the upper two thirds and away from the left 300 pixels.
- Can I keep the whole picture?
- Choose Fit inside to avoid cropping; the result keeps its own ratio and is narrower than 1584 pixels, so LinkedIn will ask you to crop it on upload.
- Is anything uploaded to Nouplo?
