This tool runs entirely in your browser using WebAssembly. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is stored, and you can even turn off your internet connection before you start.
How it works
- Drop the photo onto the box or choose it from your camera roll.
- Fill and crop is preselected: the image is scaled so the 1080×1080 square is completely covered, then cropped around the centre.
- Press Resize for Instagram. The output is exactly 1080 by 1080 pixels.
- Download and post. Instagram will not recompress a square that already matches its size as much as it would an oversized upload.
Frequently asked questions
- Why 1080 × 1080?
- Instagram displays square feed posts at 1080 pixels wide on high-density screens. Uploading exactly that size avoids Instagram's own downscaling and keeps text and edges sharp.
- What about portrait (4:5) and Stories?
- Use the Instagram portrait preset (1080×1350) or the Story preset (1080×1920) on the main Resize image tool, or their dedicated pages linked below.
- Will part of my photo be cut off?
- With Fill and crop, yes: whatever lies outside the centred square is trimmed. Choose Fit inside to keep the whole photo with padding instead; the file is still 1080×1080.
- Is the photo uploaded anywhere?
- No. Resizing happens in your browser. Nothing is sent to Nouplo or to Instagram until you post it yourself.
- Which format should I export?
- JPG is the safe choice for photos and is what Instagram converts to anyway. PNG keeps flat colours and text sharper for graphics.
