This tool runs entirely in your browser using WebAssembly. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is stored, and you can even turn off your internet connection before you start.
How it works
- Drop a wide photo or banner artwork. The 3:1 ratio is very wide, so a landscape photo is a better starting point than a portrait.
- Fill and crop is preselected: the image is scaled to cover 1500×500 and the top and bottom are trimmed equally.
- Press Resize for X header and check the preview. The centre 1500×360 is always visible; the top and bottom 70 pixels can be hidden on some screens.
- Upload it under Edit profile. If the subject sits too high or too low, crop the source with Crop image first and run it again.
Frequently asked questions
- Why 1500 × 500?
- X's recommended header size is 1500×500 pixels (3:1). It is displayed at up to 1500 pixels wide on desktop and scaled down on phones, so anything smaller is stretched and looks soft.
- What is the safe area?
- Different devices crop the header slightly differently, so X advises keeping important content within the middle 1500×360 pixels. Your profile picture also overlaps the bottom-left corner, so avoid placing text there.
- The image looks blurry after upload.
- X re-compresses headers and can reject files over 5 MB. Export as PNG for flat artwork or JPG for photos, and avoid starting from an already heavily compressed image.
- Can I keep the whole picture without cropping?
- With Fit inside nothing is cropped, but the result will not be 3:1 and X will crop it on upload anyway. It is better to crop deliberately here than to let X choose.
- Is my image uploaded to Nouplo?
- No. It is resized in your browser and never leaves your device. The free plan allows 3 files per run, 20 MB per file and 10 runs per day; Pro removes those limits.
