Example
Example: a 50 × 60 mm photo for renewing a Turkish passport at a consulate abroad
Emre (fictitious), a Turkish citizen living in Birmingham, is renewing his Turkish passport at the consulate and needs 50 × 60 mm biometric photos. He takes emre.jpg on his phone against a plain white wall: 3024 × 4032 pixels. Settings: Fill and crop to 50×60 mm (recommended), Output format JPG, Keep the file under No limit.
- The 5:6 frame opens as large as it can, centred: 3024 × 3628 pixels.
- Shrink it from a corner to about 1500 × 1800 pixels around the head and the top of the shoulders, with a small gap above the hair.
- Press Resize to 50×60 mm: the frame is scaled to 39.4 % and saved as emre-591x709.jpg, marked 300 dpi.
- In the Passport photo print sheet tool, 50 × 60 mm on a 6 × 4 in print gives 2 copies with the safe 2 mm gaps, or 4 edge to edge, which needs borderless printing.

| On US Letter, with 2 mm gaps | 16 copies | 28 copies |
emre-591x709.jpg, 50 × 60 mm when printed at 300 dpi. The consulate’s own list says how many photos to bring and how recent they must be; the tool gets the size right, while pose, light and background are yours to get right.
How it works
- Drop the portrait onto the box. A plain, light background and an even, front-on light give the cleanest biometric photo.
- Fill and crop is preselected and the frame is locked to the 5:6 shape of a 50 × 60 mm photo. Drag it over your face and size it from a corner so your head and the top of your shoulders are inside.
- Press Resize to 50×60 mm. The result is exactly 591 × 709 pixels.
- Download it and print it at 50 × 60 mm, or upload it to the form.
Frequently asked questions
- Why 591 × 709 pixels?
- 50 mm ÷ 25.4 × 300 = 591 and 60 mm ÷ 25.4 × 300 = 709, so the picture is 50 × 60 mm when printed at 300 dpi.
- How is this different from the 45×60 mm photo?
- They are two different formats. 50 × 60 mm is the biometric photo of the Turkish passport and ID card; 45 × 60 mm (the classic vesikalık) is 5 mm narrower and has its own page here. Check which one your form names before you print.
- Does the tool check biometric rules?
- No. It gives you the exact pixel size and a locked frame; head size, expression, background and lighting are yours to get right. Frame your head so it fills most of the height with a small gap above the hair, and keep the background plain.
- Can I print a sheet of them?
- Yes. The Passport photo print sheet tool offers the 50×60 mm size and repeats one photo across 4×6 inch, L-size, 5×7 inch or A4 paper at 300 dpi, with light cut lines.
- How many fit on a 6 × 4 inch print?
- Two with the 2 mm margin and gaps that survive a kiosk’s trimming, or four packed edge to edge, which needs borderless printing. A4 takes 15 with gaps and US Letter 16.
- Can I upload it to a form with a file-size limit?
- Yes. Choose the limit under Keep the file under and only the JPG quality is lowered; the picture stays 591 × 709 pixels. If it cannot get under the limit even at the lowest quality, you are told so rather than given a smaller picture.
- Is my photo uploaded?
- No. The crop and the resize happen in your browser, so a photo of your face stays on your device. The free plan covers 3 files per run, 20 MB per file and 5 runs a day.
