Example

Example: a red PAID stamp from a phone photo, made into a PNG for invoices

A bookkeeper wants the office’s red rectangular PAID stamp on PDF invoices. She stamps it on plain white printer paper and photographs it from straight above: paid.jpg, 1600 × 1200 pixels, the imprint about 600 × 240 pixels in the middle, the bottom-left corner a little shadowed and some letters pressed lightly.

After
  1. She drops the photo. This page starts with White or paper, clean-up strength 5, Red (seal ink) and Crop to the content, and she leaves them as they are.
  2. The paper’s shade is worked out area by area, so the shadowed corner turns transparent along with the rest of the paper.
  3. Red evens out the ink: light and heavy strokes come out the same clean red, so the faint letters read clearly.
  4. Crop to the content keeps the imprint plus a margin of 2 % of its longer side, at least 4 pixels: 12 pixels on each side here.
Setting Result
Crop to the content, space 0 624 × 264 pixels: the stamp and a 12-pixel margin
Crop to the content, space 20 664 × 304 pixels, 20 more transparent pixels on each side
Crop to the content off 1600 × 1200 pixels, all transparent except the stamp
Keep original colours the ink keeps its patchy light and dark areas

paid-transparent.png, 624 × 264 pixels, with only the red PAID imprint on a transparent background. In Add text to PDF she presses Image and places it over the total of each invoice; the invoice lines show through around the letters.

How it works

  1. Press the stamp firmly on plain white paper and photograph it from straight above in good light, or scan it.
  2. Drop the photo onto the box. Red ink and cropping to the content are already selected.
  3. If your stamp is blue or black, set Colour of what is kept to Navy, Black or Keep original colours first, or it comes out red. Press Make stamp transparent; if paper shadows or smudges remain, raise the clean-up strength and run it again.
  4. Download the PNG and insert it into your document, spreadsheet or PDF.

Frequently asked questions

How do I add it to a Word or Excel document?
Use Insert, then Picture, and choose the downloaded PNG. The background is transparent, so only the imprint shows over text and table lines.
Is it safe to make an image of my seal?
An image of a seal is easy to copy, so do not make images of seals registered for banking or legal use. Keep it for everyday approvals such as internal circulation, quotes and invoices. The photo never leaves your device while you make it.
Can I keep the original ink colour?
Yes. Set Colour of what is kept to Keep original colours to preserve the uneven, pressed look of the ink. Red gives an even, clearly visible colour on documents.
How do I put it on a PDF?
Open the PDF in Add text to PDF, press Image and choose the PNG, then drag and resize it to where the stamp belongs. Because the background is transparent, the text and lines under it stay visible.
How big will the PNG be?
With Crop to the content on, the size of the imprint plus a margin of 2 % of its longer side (at least 4 pixels) on each side, plus any space you set: a 600 × 240 pixel imprint becomes 624 × 264. With cropping off, the PNG keeps the photo’s full size.
What are the free limits?
The free plan handles 3 images per run, 20 MB each and 5 runs per day. Pro removes these limits.
