How it works
- Add a photograph. A clear subject against a plain background works best.
- Leave the lines bold and the background white: that is what a colouring page needs.
- If the result is too busy, try a photo with less detail — a portrait rather than a crowd.
- Download and print it — or set “Save as” to “Coloring page PDF (A4)” or “Coloring page PDF (US Letter)” to get a page ready to print.
Frequently asked questions
- What kind of photograph works?
- One with clear edges and an uncluttered background: a face, a pet, a car, a building. A busy scene turns into a mass of small lines that is no fun to colour.
- Why are there grey speckles in the sky?
- Gentle gradients have no edges to find, so the tracing picks up noise instead. A bolder line setting or a photograph with a plainer background clears it up.
- How do I print it at A4?
- Set “Save as” to “Coloring page PDF (A4)” (or US Letter): the drawing is centred on the page, as large as fits inside a 12.7 mm (½ in) margin, and the page turns landscape when the photo is wider than tall. To put several on one sheet, download the PNGs and use the photo print layout.
- Is my photograph uploaded?
- No. It is processed in your browser, which matters when it is a photograph of your family.
