Example

Worked example — Stack images vertically

Use the following inputs and settings.

Item Value
Input sample.png · 300 × 200 px
Input sample.jpg · 300 × 200 px
Layout Stacked, top to bottom
Output files 1
Output sample-combined.jpg
Pixels 300 × 400

Expected result — Output files: 1.

How it works

  1. Add the pictures in order: the first in the list goes on top, and the ↑ ↓ arrows in the list move one up or down.
  2. Leave the width matching so the sides line up: wider pictures are scaled down to the narrowest one. A stack with ragged sides looks like a mistake.
  3. Add a gap of ten or twenty pixels if you want the joins visible, or none if the shots should read as one long page.
  4. Press stack and the single tall image downloads.

Frequently asked questions

Will the result be enormous?
Tall, certainly: each 1080 × 2400 phone screenshot adds 2,400 pixels, so 3 make 7,200 and 6 make 14,400. The limit is 16,384 pixels high — from 7 screenshots on, the whole picture is scaled down evenly (10 come out 737 × 16,384) and the text shrinks, so split a long chat into two pictures. Save as JPEG rather than PNG for a photo-like result, or run it through our compress tool afterwards.
What if the pictures are different widths?
With the width set to match, every picture is scaled to the narrowest one — nothing is enlarged: screenshots 1080, 1170 and 720 wide all come out 720 wide. With it set to original, they keep their own sizes and the narrow ones are centred on the background colour.
Can I put them side by side instead?
Yes — change the direction to horizontal, or use a grid if you want rows and columns.
Is anything uploaded?
No. The pictures are drawn together on a canvas in your browser.
